The Role
SpaceOne Futures is developing an innovative method to identify the next generation of exceptional social entrepreneurs that traditional Venture Capital overlooks. As part of this new initiative, we are looking for a full stack developer to work alongside our strategy and data teams. You will lead the development of our product that will source, evaluate, and organize world-class social entrepreneurs and their ventures.
In this role, you will report into the Entrepreneurship Team. As part of this team, you’ll help us break down the highly complex problem of sourcing entrepreneurs globally in an equitable manner. You will work closely with multiple team members to actualize an application design into a working, scalable product with the appropriate back-end infrastructure to collect data about non-traditional entrepreneurs.
This is a contract position with a potential opportunity for follow on work.
Key Responsibilities
Development & Design
- Determine the ideal software architecture for the new product
- Develop the front-end for the web application
- Develop and maintain the backend of the application
- Design application infrastructure
- Develop infrastructure for data collection, storage, and measurement
- Act as a thought partner to team members, help to identify and address our blindspots
Technical Management
- Manage DevOps and the codebase on development, staging, and production environments
- Work alongside UX team to design a user-friendly, functional UI based on UX research design
- Assure product quality through coding, testing, debugging, quality assurance review, and developing appropriate documentation
- Write and maintain code that is both reusable and scalable, as well as optimized for performance with the end-user in mind
- Support in the process of transitioning to an internal team at the conclusion of the contract
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Demonstrated ability to design, write, and edit technical and process documentation
- Write and maintain code that is both reusable and scalable, as well as optimized for performance with the end-user in mind
- Ability to handle ambiguity
- Self-starter, able to work without direct supervision
- Experience working in a startup environment
- Proficient research abilities
- Excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively interact with customers and other team members
- Aligned with mission to find, support, and add value to non-traditional entrepreneurs
Requirements
- 4+ years experience in front-end development (HTML, CSS, and JS)
- 4+ years experience in back-end development (NodeJS, Ruby on Rails, Python, or PHP)
- 4+ years experience in a data analysis language (R, Python, Stata, etc)
- 2+ years DevOps experience (AWS, Heroku, etc)
